This page states the Rules and Regulations under which you may participate in Salt of the Earth Press's Skill Based Contests. Please read these Rules and Regulations for the Web Site. Please read carefully. Any use of the Web Site will constitute your acceptance of and be subject to these terms. If you do not accept the terms stated here, please refrain from entering Skill Based Contests at Salt of the Earth Press (saltpress.com). Salt of the Earth Press (the "Sponsor") may revise these Rules and Regulations and Terms at any time by updating this posting. You should visit this page periodically to review because they are binding on you.

Note that all references to currency or to dollars refer to United States dollars.

Contests
Content created through the application of skills will be provided as described below for each individual and specific Skill Based Contest.

Mother's Day Poem: Win up to $500 FAST

This is a fast and furious contest. Pay your entry fee, send in your poem and prizes will be disbursed in time for Mother's Day. This contest demonstrates skill in writing poetry. Dates: All entries must be received by the first Friday in May of each year. Entitled: Mother's Day Poem

• Focus: Entries must be 300 words or less and focus on the theme of Mother's Day with sentiment or reflections. Winning Entrant will demonstrate originality (25%), expression (25%), creativity (25%), and human interest (25%).
• Entry Fee: $25.00. Send to lmc@saltpress.com using PayPal.
• Entry Format: Essays must be submitted electronically. Exact directions will be sent to you with your entry package (after ordering). You will have 7 days to send your entry after paying the entry fee.
• 1st Prize: $500.00 cash (Paid via PayPal for FAST payment)
• 2nd Prize: $100 (Paid via PayPal for FAST payment)
• 3rd Prize: Classic Long Stemmed Rose Bouquet (valued at $59.99 plus $14.99 s&h)
• Winner Announced: First Friday in June of each year.

This contest demonstrates skill in writing. Dates: All entries must be received by the first Friday of each month to be considered for that month's contest. Entitled: Essay

• Focus: Entries must be 500 words or less and must focus on activities that are associated with the month the entry is entered for. Winning Entrant will demonstrate originality (25%), expression (25%), creativity (25%), and human interest (25%).

• Entry Format: Essays must be submitted electronically. Exact directions will be sent to you with your entry package (after ordering). You will have 7 days to send your entry after paying the entry fee.
• 1st Prize: $50 paid via PayPal
• 2nd Prize: $20 paid via PayPal
• 3rd Prize: $10 paid via PayPal

This contest demonstrates skill in photography. Dates: All entries must be received by the first Friday of each month to be considered for that month's contest. Entitled: Photograph Month (i.e. Photograph January might be a winter theme, while Photograph July might be a summer or holiday or water theme)

• Focus: Entries must focus on activities that are associated with the month the entry is entered for. Entrant will demonstrate originality (25%), expression (25%), creativity (25%), and human interest (25%).

Contest Limits
The contest shall have a maximum number of entries of which the entry fees equal 3 times the total value of the prize/s. Multiple entries are permitted. However; each entry must be original, submitted separately with a separate entry fee for each submission.

Eligibility
At Salt of the Earth Press we are extremely concerned that we do not violate the laws applying in the jurisdiction in which you reside. As a result, please ensure that you comply with the requirements herein.

You are subject to all laws of the state, province and/or country in which you reside and from which you access the Web Site and are solely responsible for obeying those laws. You agree that Salt of the Earth Press cannot be held liable if laws applicable to you restrict or prohibit your participation. The Sponsor makes no representations or warranties, implicit or explicit, as to your legal right to participate in any contest offered on the Web Site nor shall any person affiliated, or claiming affiliation, with Salt of the Earth Press have authority to make any such representations or warranties. The Sponsor reserves the right to monitor the location from which you access the Web Site and to block access from any jurisdiction in which participation is illegal or restricted. The Sponsor may require any participant receiving any prize to provide us with proof that he or she is eligible to participate.

Once purchased, entries cannot be cancelled and all winners are final. Prize redemption is subject to the rules and regulations of your local jurisdiction. In case of a conflict between these guidelines and applicable statutes and rules, the statutes and rules will govern.

The operation of the contest and the awarding of the prize to you must be lawful under all laws and regulations applicable in the jurisdiction in which you are located in order for you to be eligible for prizes.

We intend that our contests be played ONLY by adults. Anyone considered a minor in his or her respective jurisdiction is strictly forbidden to entering our contests.

You represent and warrant that all information you supply to Salt of the Earth Press is complete and accurate. Submitting incomplete, false, or inaccurate information will result in immediate termination of your entry and forfeiture of any prizes to which you are otherwise entitled.

You are solely responsible for paying all taxes, fees, or other charges that may be applicable in your jurisdiction for prizes that are awarded with any value.

By accepting these Terms you agree that you do not find the contests we offer offensive, unfair or indecent or objectionable in any other way.

You must be of legal age or older to participate in this contest, in the state, country or municipality where you reside and it is your responsibility to determine your eligibility and legality to participate in this contest.

As per United States taxation laws, we will require you to provide your social security number for income tax purposes in the event that you win (& request to be shipped) a prize with a value in excess of $600 in any given year. Failure to provide this additional information when requested will relieve Salt of the Earth Press from the obligation to award you any prize with a value in excess of $600 per given year.

This contest is open to any person worldwide who is of legal age or older and who submits content, along with the required fee. Employees of Salt of the Earth Press, employees' immediate families, affiliates, and judges of the contest are not eligible to enter this contest. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law and all other areas, within and without the US, where applicable. All Federal, State and Local laws and regulations apply. All entries shall become the sole and exclusive property of Salt of the Earth Press and will not be returned. Salt of the Earth Press will not be responsible for lost, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, postage due or illegible entries, as well as entries which do not have names, addresses, or entries which have not been submitted with the proper entry fees.

Contest Entry Fee
Entry fees per submission are determined for each Skill Based Contest and are posted along with the details of each specific Skill Based Contest. We accept US funds only. All entry fees shall be held in an account with PayPal (http://www.paypal.com) and should be sent to: lmc@saltpress.com. All fees will be held until such time as the contest becomes a success and prizes are awarded, or until such time as the contest becomes void and refunds are made to the appropriate Entrants. Multiple entries (with multiple fees) by an individual are acceptable. If any funds are returned for any reason, then the related entry shall be voided and Entrant shall be billed for any bank fees charged to the owner. Entries from the PayPal website must be original and include the appropriate entry fee for each entry. Prize sponsors are not responsible for errors, technical or otherwise, due to third-party payment processing.

Technical Requirements
Each entry shall (1) consist of publishable content (as described for each individual and specific skill-based contest), which if written must follow the rules for number of words for that particular Skill Based Contest and must be in ENGLISH; (2) sent via electronic transmission, instruction for which will be sent as part of the acknowledgement of receipt of entry fee; (3) the content shall be entitled according to the particular Skill Based Contest the Entrant is entering; (4) the content shall be accompanied by one VALID EMAIL ADDRESS, to be used for the announcement of the first-place winners and runner-up winners of the contest or a refund as stated below. The Sponsor shall identify each entry and entry form by number, separate each entry from its accompanying entry form, and shall submit the entries to the judges identified only by such numbers.

Deadline for Determination of Winning Essay
The first, second and third place winners and additional runners-up will be chosen on or before the date listed with the particular Skill Based Contest announcement.

Terms
Each contestant acknowledges and agrees to be bound by all the terms and conditions contained herein or as modified by allowed terms. Contestants further agree that in any event, damages for any breach of contract or covenant herein shall be limited to the actual amount of fees submitted with the skill based content for each contest. Contestant further agrees that if litigation is commenced, contestant shall pay all reasonable attorney fees and court costs incurred by Salt of the Earth Press as a result of any such litigation. It shall further be the sole responsibility of each contestant to determine the validity and legality of the contest in their respective area, state, country, or locality. Entrant shall bear sole and total responsibility for such entry into this contest. Entry is void where prohibited. Sponsor shall not have any liability for any losses or damages arising from Entrant's entry or entries in violation of any law.

Indemnification
Entrant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold Sponsor and all judges harmless from any and all claims for damages or loss arising out of or in any way connected with the Contest or its Rules. This covenant shall be deemed continuing and shall survive any termination or expiration of this agreement.

Judges
An independent judging panel consisting of 3 judges shall determine the winner/s in each Skill Based Contest. The judges do not have any material interest in the outcome of the contest. Judges shall remain anonymous to the greatest extent possible. The judges shall select first through third place winners. The names of the judges shall be released to a public authority requesting such information within the scope of its jurisdiction.

Standards for Judging
The judges shall evaluate each entry properly submitted with an attached valid entry fee as herein described. Content which meets the technical requirements, as described under each individual and specific Skill Based Contest, shall be judged on the basis of originality (25%), expression (25%), creativity (25%), and human interest (25%). The decision of the judges shall be final.

Refunds
All entries and entry fees are final. Refunds shall only be awarded and returned to the Entrants if the contest is voided because of lack of participation by the Original Deadline. If the Contest becomes void due to insufficient participation, each entry fee shall be returned, less a per entry processing fee, to each respective Entrant. The processing fee will be equal to the PayPal fees incurred (2.9% plus .30 per transaction) in addition to a 1% handling fee. Each entry in excess of the required or maximum number (determined under the individual and specific Skill Based Contest description) shall be refused. Under no circumstances will accrued interest, if any, be refunded to any Entrant. The winners will be declared and posted on the Contest website <http://www.saltpress.com> on or before each individual and specific Skill Based Contest deadline.

Submission
All content must be submitted with the appropriate fees via internet. Entries must have fees paid via "PayPal®" (paypal.com) to lmc@saltpress.com. Payment receipt from PayPal shall constitute confirmation of receipt of entries for Internet submissions. Each submission must include the first and last name, street, postal/zip code, city, state and country of the person submitting the content. By submitting content, you are certifying that it is your original work and that all rights to this content are yours. You are also certifying that you are entering this content as an honest and true effort of your personal creativity and unique experience, and understand that it will be published on the Internet as your original work and under your own copyright by Salt of the Earth Press (saltpress.com). After you have succesfully paid your entry fee, you will be directed to a web page that will give specific information on submitting your content. You will have 7 to 14 days to submit your content after successfully paying your entry fee.

Winners
Winners shall be notified by certified mail (if available), e-mail (if available) and/or telephone (if available). Winners shall have 15 days to acknowledge the prize award notification. Should winners not respond within 15 days of notification, the runner up to each winner shall be awarded the prize. Should the runner up to each winner not respond within 15 days of notification, the runner up to the runner up of the winner shall be awarded the prize, and so on. Winners are solely responsible for all additional taxes, fees, and other expenses associated with their prize. Delivery costs shall be arranged and paid by Salt of the Earth Press.

All awards are final and unappealable.

Taxes and Fees
The winner of each prize shall be solely responsible for any and all taxes and fees, including attorneys' fees and fees of any kind imposed upon or arising out of successful participation in this essay contest. Entrants will pay their own federal income taxes and any excise tax or personal property tax.

Copyright and Publication
By entering contest, Entrant grants permission and unlimited license to Sponsor to publish all or part of the submitted content or any other content submitted by Entrant to Sponsor, and to use Entrant's name and photograph, or an agreed upon nom de plume, to publicize the winning entries and the Names of all runners-up, all without royalty or other consideration.

This Skill Based Contest is based in part on several other Skill Based Contest organizations and methods, all of which are operated legally within the United States of America.
